Winter Wonderland
by Michael A. Ribas

"Over the past 20 years, I have traveled West Virginia extensively chasing sunsets and sunrises, snowstorms and lifting fog in pursuit of my photography."

A native of Clarksburg, Michael Ribas discovered his passion for landscape photography as a teenager traveling the backroads around his hometown. Although mostly self-taught, Ribas took several photography courses at Fairmont State College. Today he uses a Nikon 35mm system with lenses ranging from 24mm to 300mm. He favors Velvia slide film for its rich, saturated colors and sharpness. Wanting his photos to accurately portray his subjects, the only filters he uses are polarizing, 81B, neutral density and split neutral densities.
