An Angler's Paradise...

By David Fattaleh

For you, it may be the thrill of reeling in that trophy-size brown trout that's just waiting beneath the cold, clear waters of a Highlands stream. Or perhaps it is the allure of a solitary morning on Bluestone Lake surrounded by magnificent mountainsÐjust you, your rod and reel, and the calls of spring warblers greeting the dawn.

Whether it's a great angling adventure or merely a great escape you seek, you'll find it along West Virginia's 20,000 miles of fishable streams and on the state's 110 public lakes and ponds.

West Virginia offers outstanding trout fishing year-round in both native streams and stocked streams and lakes. Many other species, including smallmouth, largemouth, and striped bass; musky; walleye; and catfish, also await anglers in the many warm water streams, lakes, and ponds located across the Mountain State.

In the Morning mist, anglers fish the placid waters of Stonewall jackson Lake in Lewis County.
